What STOTT PILATES is all about

STOTT PILATES ® is a contemporary approach to the original method pioneered by Joseph Pilates.

A team of physical therapists, sports medicine, and fitness professionals have spent over two decades refining the acclaimed STOTT PILATES® method of exercise and line of equipment.

The refined method resulted in the inclusion of modern principles of exercise science and rehabilitation – making it one of the safest and most effective methods available.

We look forward to seeing you in our studio and sharing the power of a healthy body.

EVALUATION

It is recommended to undertake a one-on-one private introductory session, to assess your Pilates needs and goals.

A partial analysis is conducted so that any alignment issues can be addressed.

You will learn the five basic Pilates principles that will create an awareness of the deep torso muscles, and establish a foundation for the future.

From this assessment, we will be able to recommend which class is better suited to your needs.

MAT-WORK CLASSES

Learn select exercises from the STOTT PILATES ® mat-work repertoire with emphasis on movement patterns, breathing, and correct alignment.

The goal is to improve spine stability, overall postural alignment, and strengthening the body, focusing on the core.

Persons of all fitness levels will benefit from these classes.

Intermediate and Advanced mat-work classes incorporate additional equipment such as rollers, flex–bands, bosu balls, fitness–circles, toning and stability balls.

REFORMER CLASSES

George Core Strength Pilates Studio has eight V2 Max Reformers, these reformers are the primary piece of equipment used in STOTT PILATES ® equipment-based exercise.

The Reformer utilizes a gliding platform with ropes and springs adjusted for different levels of resistance. This reflects the actual movement of muscles and can correct muscular imbalances which make it a better option for certain individuals.

The studio has added the Cardio Tramp workout to its offerings enabling cardio-based exercise as part of the repertoire.

The combination of equipment enables athletic conditioning and has a significant impact on lymph drainage which is particularly helpful to people suffering from cancer-based conditions.

ANNIE KNOETZE

INSTRUCTOR

STOTT CERTIFIED MAT WORK Level 1 + 2
BOOTY BARRE Plus, Flex and Flow Certified

Annie started doing Pilates almost 9 years ago. Through the discipline she noticed
how her own body changed and responded to the Pilates method based on correct
breathing, posture awareness and how Pilates has the ability to reduce pain as
muscles get stronger, increasing and easing mobility.
After completing her Mat instructor’s course, Annie joined Caren at Core Strength
Pilates Studio in 2016 and started as Mat instructor, teaching several group classes.
As part of ongoing education, Annie completed her STOTT Reformer, Cadillac and
Chair courses as well as the Special Populations Course. She also completed the
Booty Barre Course through Tracey Mallet in California – which is a fun combination
of dance yoga and Pilates.
Annie aims to make a difference in other people’s lives by guiding them from novices
to regular practitioners, noticing the positive difference Pilates bring in their own
bodies. Annie also enjoys walking her three dogs and mountain biking and she has
found that having a strong core and body really enhances the whole experience.

MEGAN BOTMA

INSTRUCTOR

Booty Barre Plus instructor
Royal Academy of Dance Certified Ballet Teacher.

Megan’s first ever love was ballet and it turned out to be a life long love story for her. After school Megan started her studies at the University of Cape Town studying BMus Dance but later move on and completed her studies at the Cape Academy of Performing Arts where she also danced with the Cape Dance Company as a student. After her studies she went on to become a ballet teacher affiliated and certified with the Royal Academy of Dance in London.

Megan and her husband moved to George in 2021 where she then opened her own ballet school and ultimately met Caren who offered her beautiful studio space at Core Strength Pilates.

Becoming a Booty Barre instructor (through Tracey Mallet in California) seemed like the obvious next step for Megan as it energetic and fun and blends ballet/dance, Pilates and yoga.

“I love what I do and feel so privileged to live my dream and teach the love of dance to young and old!

Our bodies were made to move, find something that you enjoy and keeps you coming back for more… and if there happens to be music involved, sign me up!”

TINUS BADENHORST

INSTRUCTOR

Pilates Group Excercise Mat Instructor (2018)

Yinyasa Yoga (2012)

Diploma - Fitness (Pregnancy, Children, Older Adults (2012)

In July 2002 the book "Health Through Common Sense" from Tromp van Diggelen changed the course of the life for Tinus.

The joy of a healthy lifestyle with exercises as a vital component became a reality he wanted to share with others.

Later on, with his studies in 2011 and 2012, he would discover the relation with the exercises in his exercise regime to that of Yoga and Pilates.

Since 2012 he started to teach these two modalities at various facilities in George.
He is also known to teach Aqua Aerobics as well as Chair exercises at a couple of retirement homes.

As a musician and composer he also loves to surprise his students once in a while with a music choreographed class.

Welcome to the journey of realization of the body's inherent capacity to heal. My goal is to see you thriving independently until your last breath in this world.
